Mumbai Builder 10th Scam Unveiled - Flat Buyer Defrauded of Rs. 3.3 Crore

Mumbai builder Jayesh Tanna faces another fraud case, accused of duping a flat buyer of Rs. 3.3 crore in Andheri. The 10th offence exposes a pattern of deceit.

The Mumbai police have slapped a fresh case against builder Jayesh Tanna and his family, including wife Shradda, brother Deep, and son Vivek, for allegedly cheating a flat buyer, Vinod Punjabi, of a huge Rs. 3.30 crore. On Tuesday, the Amboli police booked the directors of Sai Sagar consultant on charges of cheating and forgery.

This marks the 10th offence registered against Jayesh Tanna and his company, exposing a trail of deceit targeting flat buyers in Borivali, Goregaon, Kandivali, and Andheri.

The complainant, businessman Vinod Punjabi, a resident of Andheri, claimed that in 2014, he approached the developer for a 3 BHK flat in a project near Bhavan’s college in Andheri West. Despite booking a flat on the 9th floor measuring around 1,200 square feet, which was promised for completion in 2017, Punjabi found himself deceived.

Notably, the builder allegedly accepted Rs. 17 lakh as stamp duty from Punjabi but failed to register the agreement or pay the required stamp duty. To Punjabi’s dismay, he discovered that the flat he booked had already been sold to a third party, adding another layer to Jayesh Tanna’s growing list of fraudulent activities.
